Mr. Kohl's website is outstanding and will give you a good idea of the high quality entertainment that is coming to our Church Sanctuary! Please join us for this outstanding event!
About Mr. Kohl:
Joshua Kohl was called a "tenor to watch" by The Boston Herald and was recently singled out for his "glorious, relaxed performance" by Opera News. The Salt Lake Tribune said of his recent performance in Macbeth that he "nearly steals the show with his impassioned portrayal of Macduff. The young tenor brings a jolt of urgency to every scene he's in, and the aria in which Macduff expresses his grief over his family's murder is arguably the emotional high point of the evening."
A National Semi-Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2007, he also received Honorable Mention in the 2008 Irma M. Cooper International Vocal Competition, and placed 7th in the 40th Annual Palm Beach Opera Vocal Competition in 2009. Mr. Kohl earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati, and a Master of Music degree from Boston University.
About Ms. de Moura Castro:
Bridget de Moura Castro, accompanist, is currently Director of Music at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Hartford, and teaches piano and organ in Avon. She holds degrees from Reading University (England) and Texas Christian University where she studied with Lili Kraus. A British Council Scholarship holder, she completed graduate studies at Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest specializing in organ, clarinet, piano and chamber music. Ms. de Moura Castro has recorded four CDs of flute music and six of piano, four hands, with her husband Luiz de Moura Castro and a CD of Ave Marias with Canadian soprano, Claudette Leblanc.
